Rare early 20th century bentwood three-seater bench with embossed seat raised on splayed legs. Stamped Jacob & Josef Kohn. The bench is structurally sound.
Jacob Kohn together with his son Josef were celebrated Austrian furniture makers and interior designers. They established their furniture making business in 1849 in Vienna. They would go on to become one of the leading furniture makers in Austria-Hungary and leading competitors of Gebruder Thonet. Kohn eventually merged with furniture maker Mundus in 1914 which in turn merged with Gebruder Thonet in 1921.
